-: Madikeri Fort and Palace:-

The Madikeri Fort is located about 500 meters from the Madikeri Bus Stand and is situated on a hill that was built by Muduraja in 1681. The clay structure was remodeled by Tipu Sultan. Muduraja also built a thatched roof palace here. that was renovated by Lingarajendra II in 1814, and then in 1933, the British added a clock- tower to it. Nearby are two startlingly life-like masonry elephants. The fort’s Veerabhadra Temple was demolished and a Gothic-style Anglican church built in its place in 1855. The church now has a museum that displays historical objects related to Kodava life.

  • By Road: Most travelers prefer to drive under the Madikeri Fort when they are traveling from nearby cities. Madikeri is located on Karnataka State Highway 88 which is strong and provides good access from all the surrounding cities. Madikeri is 252 km from Bangalore, 120 km from Mysore, and 136 km from Mangalore.
  • By Bus: Many buses cover a distance of around 7 hours between Bangalore and Madikeri. Mangalore, Mysore, Shimoga, Chikmagalur, and other important cities and cities.

  • By Road: Madikeri is located near highway 88 of Karnataka state that connects Mysore to Mangalore.   • By Air: Mysore Airport is the closest to Madikeri as there is no airport in the small town. Mysore is connected to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai via Bangalore airport. Mangalore International Airport in Mangalore can also be evaluated to reach Madikeri city.

Abhay Falls is a popular waterfall in the Kodagu district. The Kaveri river falls on rocks about 70 feet wide and offers a spectacular view.   • By Air: There is no airport in Kodagu district. The nearest airport is Mangalore International Airport which is located about 137 km from Kodagu. The nearest domestic airport from Madikeri is about 121 km away. Kannur International Airport has located about 120 km from Madikeri.
  • By Rail: Kodagu district has not any railway station. The nearest railway stations to Madikeri are Mysore, Hassan, and Mangalore in Karnataka State and Thalassery and Kannur in Kerala State.
  • By Road: Public buses ply from Bangalore, Mysore, and Mangalore to Madikeri. You can also reach the waterfall by private car and rental cab.

-: Raja’s Tomb:-

Located about 1.5 km from the Madikeri bus stand, the mausoleums of Veerajendra and his wives stand together and are exactly the same, with Lingarajendra’s mausoleum built in 1809 and Veerarajendra’s in 1821. The turrets are prominent on the Madikeri horizon like the Islamic gilded central gilded dome and corner towers, each with portraits of Basavas (bulls). Beautifully carved bronze bars made of stone are carved on the windows.

How to Reach:-

Raja’s tomb is located in Mahadevapet, 1.5 km north-east from Madikeri.

  • By Road: Tourists can reach Gaddige via NH-27. Both government and private buses are available for Coorg. Auto-rickshaws are also the best means of travel in and around Coorg. Apart from this, cars, taxis, and bikes on rent are available in every major city of Coorg to take the tourists to the Raja Tomb.
  • By Air: There is no airport in Coorg. Mysore, Mangalore, and Bengaluru. Mangalore and Bangalore are international airports located at a distance of 135 km and 260 km. The nearest airport to Gaddige is Mysore which is 120 km from Gaddige. Taxis are available from the airport to Madikeri.
  • By Rail: Kodagu district does not have a good railway network. The nearest railway stations to Madikeri are Mysore Hassan and Mangalore in the state of Karnataka and Thalassery and Kannur in the state of Kerala.

Mandalapatti is a famous hilltop which is situated at an altitude of 4050 feet Karnataka, is a hilltop 14 km from Madikeri town in Karnataka and is a part of Pushpagiri Reserve Forest. Mandalapatti has become a famous four-by-four jeep drive location to the top. It is one of the favorite drives for road trips from Bangalore.

How to Reach:-

  • By Rail: Mangalore Central Railway Station is the main among the other railway stations. the nearest station for local trains is Subrahmanya Road railway station.
  • By Road: From Bangalore, the hills of Mandalapatti are at a distance of 211 km from Mangalore. it is at a distance of 284 km, and from Coimbatore, it is at a distance of 351 km. You will need about 6 hours to reach Mandalapatti from Mangalore and Bangalore; While it takes 9 hours by car to reach there from Coimbatore.
  • By Bus: Among all the bus stops, Shivamogga Bus Terminal is located close to Mandalapatti Hills. It is well connected to other cities. To reach your exact location, you will have to take a local bus which will drop you off at the Madikeri bus stand (Stuart Hill).
